About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Leeds United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham in their Premier League clash at Elland Road, thanks to a last-minute goal by substitute Lukas Nmecha. This result was somewhat expected given Leeds' recent form, having entered the match with a solid run of performances. The game was tightly contested, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. Leeds United made three changes to their starting lineup, bringing in Karl Darlow, Noah Okafor, and Jayden Bogle, while Jaka Bijol, Anton Stach, and Lucas Perri were left out. Fulham, on the other hand, made two changes with Ryan Sessegnon and Sasa Lukic coming in for Tom Cairney and Issa Diop. The decisive moment came in the 90th minute when Lukas Nmecha, who had been introduced as a substitute, found the back of the net to give Leeds the lead. This late goal was a testament to Leeds' persistence and tactical adjustments, which eventually paid off. In terms of individual performances, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (GAP +2.8%) was a constant threat for Leeds, while Timothy Castagne (GAP +1.3%) and Bernd Leno (GAP +1.0%) stood out for Fulham with solid defensive displays. Despite Fulham's efforts, they were unable to break down a resilient Leeds defense. Post-match reactions highlighted the importance of this win for Leeds, as it helps them maintain momentum in the league. Fulham, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address their attacking inefficiencies as they look to bounce back in their next fixture. This victory sees Leeds United continue their push up the Premier League table, while Fulham will be keen to improve their form to avoid slipping further down the standings.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
